Specialty Ceilings

Custom, curved, and multi-material ceiling work for commercial projects that need something different.

When Standard Grid-and-Tile Won't Cut It

Some ceilings are meant to be noticed. Corporate lobbies, hotels, theaters, flagship retail, churches — these spaces need ceiling work that goes beyond a standard Armstrong or USG tile in a T-bar grid. We work with Armstrong, 9Wood, Rulon, and Hunter Douglas to build custom ceiling systems for the projects that demand it.

What We Build

  • Curved ceilings: Sweeping curves in wood, metal, or composite materials. Done with steam-bent wood, formed metal, or segmented panel systems on curved tracks.
  • Multi-material ceilings: Mixing wood, metal, fabric, and standard tile in one design. Different materials in different zones for both looks and acoustic performance.
  • Integrated lighting: Ceiling systems with built-in LED channels, light coves, and feature lighting where the light is part of the ceiling design.
  • Architectural features: One-off designs — the kind of ceiling that people photograph. Custom shapes, patterns, and configurations to match the architect's drawings.
  • Wall-to-ceiling transitions: Where wall treatments continue up onto the ceiling without a break. Works well with wood and metal systems from 9Wood, Rulon, and Armstrong.

How It Works

  1. Review the drawings: We look at the architect's ceiling design and figure out how to build it.
  2. Pick the right manufacturer: 9Wood for complex wood, Rulon for premium finishes, Armstrong for metal or standard-plus, Hunter Douglas for specialty systems.
  3. Shop drawings: Detailed drawings showing how everything fits together — structure, MEP, lighting, the ceiling itself.
  4. Fabrication: Custom pieces built to spec at the manufacturer's shop.
  5. Installation: Our crews handle the install. Specialty work takes precision — alignment, structural connections, finishing details all have to be right.
