Commercial Acoustical Ceiling Systems

Acoustical ceilings — T-bar or suspended ceiling systems — are the foundation of sound management in commercial buildings. These systems consist of a metal grid framework suspended from the structural ceiling by wire hangers, with acoustical tiles installed in the grid to absorb sound, block noise transfer between rooms, and create a finished ceiling surface. Elite Acoustics Inc specializes exclusively in commercial acoustical ceiling installation for offices, schools, healthcare facilities, government buildings, retail stores, restaurants, and every other commercial building type.

Products We Install

  • Mineral Fiber Tiles: Armstrong Cortega 769, USG Radar 2310, CertainTeed Baroque — solid performers for standard commercial projects. NRC 0.50-0.70.
  • Fiberglass Tiles: Armstrong Ultima, USG Halcyon, CertainTeed Ecophon — premium acoustic performance for conference rooms, healthcare, and performance spaces. NRC 0.70-0.95.
  • High-Performance Panels: Armstrong Total Acoustics — high NRC absorption AND high CAC sound blocking in one tile.
  • Specialty Tiles: Moisture-resistant, washable, impact-resistant, and anti-microbial options for demanding commercial environments.

Suspension Grid Systems

  • Armstrong Prelude: The industry-standard suspension system. 15/16" and 9/16" profiles.
  • USG Donn: Widely specified grid with excellent load capacity and seismic options.
  • Chicago Metallic: Premium grid systems for architectural projects.
  • Seismic-rated assemblies: All California commercial installations include seismic bracing per ASTM E580/CBC Chapter 13.

Tile Edge Profiles

  • Square Lay-In: Most economical. Tile rests on grid with grid face visible.
  • Tegular (15/16" and 9/16"): Stepped edge creates shadow line. Most popular for professional commercial spaces.
  • Concealed: Interlocking tiles completely hide the grid for a monolithic appearance.

Acoustic Performance Ratings

  • NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient): 0.50-0.95+. Measures sound absorption. Higher = less echo.
  • CAC (Ceiling Attenuation Class): 25-40+. Measures sound blocking between rooms. 35+ for standard offices; 40+ for confidential spaces.
  • Light Reflectance (LR): 0.78-0.90. Higher = more light reflected back into the room, reducing energy costs.
