Understanding the Ratings
NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient)
Measures sound absorption on a scale of 0 to 1.0. Higher = more absorption. 0.55 is standard; 0.70+ is high-performance.
CAC (Ceiling Attenuation Class)
Measures sound blocking between rooms through the ceiling. 35+ is standard; 40+ recommended for privacy.
Fire Class
Class A = best fire performance. All commercial ceiling tiles must meet Class A (flame spread ≤25, smoke ≤450).
Light Reflectance
Higher LR = more light bounced back into the room, reducing lighting energy use. 0.80+ is good; 0.90+ is excellent.
